On April 6th, FaveCraftsRadio had another show full of fun designers! Stephanie Petersen, Kristin Omdahl, Christy Tomlinson, Terri Sproul, and Linda Augsburg all shared their creative knowledge with us. It was very informative, for me anyway. All of these ladies have such interesting ideas and tips for projects across all mediums. Listening to Christy Tomlinson talk about how she doesn’t sketch anything out before starting was inspiring because I feel like I work better that way as well. Somehow though, I always try to force myself to plan. Of course, it never comes out as well for me! The old radio shows are archived on the site, so if you missed it, it’s easy as pie to go back and listen.

Christy Tomlinson uses Mod Podge, paints, and paint brushes to make this pretty canvas project. Her Love is in the Air Mixed Media Canvas is a really pretty, fun, and easy to make project that you can personalize using cardstock and buttons you have laying around at home. You can watch Christy make the project from scratch in the video she made for FaveCrafts.com.

Stephanie Petersen, who specializes in painting bread, talked about her Personalized Crystal Ice Centerpieces. It’s such an interesting and beautiful project. She uses Print N’ Press Iron on Transfer Sheets, a clear glass jar, and silk flowers to make this amazingly impressive centerpiece.

Kristen Omdahl, who creates gorgeously simple knit and crochet pieces, shared with us about her Elegant Crochet Flower Shawl. She is also the author of several books on crochet. You can actually find her Wrapped in Crochet on CutRateCrafts!

Terri Sproul talked about her Steampunk Paperclay Book. This book looks so fun to make. I think all the intricate little detailing is the most exciting part of putting this book together. If you want to try making it, you can find materials like the Memories InkPad and acrylic paints on CutRateCrafts. She also talked about a couple quick and easy Easter cards she designed: EcoArt Easter Card and Surprise Easter Card.
And at the very end, Linda Augsburg talked about all the new free eBooks being released by FaveCrafts and the sister sites. There are a ton of Easter and Spring free eBooks coming out. Linda recaps the show and gives links to them, if you’re on the edge of your seat with excitement, in her blog post.
I learned so many great tips for using Mod Podge, making inexpensive gifts using edible paints, washing different yarns, and amazing ways to save money using paperclay. Hearing more advanced crafters talk about their work really makes me want to jump to my craft tool box and start working with things I’ve been too scared to touch. I’m going to try to come up with something to do with paper, canvas, and Mod Podge, so update to come…soon? We’ll see. Anyway, it’s always a great show and I can’t wait for the next one.
