Our newsletter, The Craft Connection wanted to hear what your favorite outdoor crafts and projects were to do, especially as warmer temperatures are approaching! We got a bunch of fantastic responses with many of our readers detailing some really great crafts that they participate in to get out of the house.
Many of our readers liked to build things. Cheryl wrote that “One of my favorite outdoor crafts is making patio furniture or decorating bird baths. These are fun projects to do and satisfying to look at,” while Loretta added that she liked to create macrame lawn chairs. Both of these projects are great ways to enjoy the warm spring and summer temperatures, and have fun doing it! Linda even gave us a very detailed project!
“I enjoy making fairy furniture out of natural materials I find around the yard. I start with a ready-made birdhouse from a craft store or a plastic bottle, can or recyclable item. Then I paint it a dark color and cover it with moss, bark, sticks or shells. Each one becomes unique when I decorate it with old jewelry. I have also used purchased miniatures, like a gazebo, and then covered it with silk flower petals and fine garland and moss. The items I am most proud of are chairs for the fairy king and queen made of bark, sticks and moss.”
Planting is also a popular outdoor activity, as many of our readers shared with use. Ann Marie noted that she liked putting flowers in each spring while Sue mentioned her favorite summer activity is planting herbs. Gail took it a step further, making some additions to her planting gardens: “Anything using pallets. I’ve made multiple vertical gardens (IN the pallet as well as hanging from). Unique planters are fun, too.”
Finally, sketching was another common theme for outdoorsy crafts. James writes that “For an outdoor craft, probably sketching or painting would be what I would choose.” We have everything you need to enjoy sketching or painting outdoors!Print This Post
